What is a Renaissance School?
Wilburn is one of four Wake County Schools designated a Renaissance school. In an effort to raise student achievement, the Renaissance schools have received federal grant money to provide an array of innovative support for our students.
First, a highly qualified staff has been put into place to ensure effective instruction in every classroom. You will see some familiar faces as well as a number of new staff. An additional teacher has been hired for every grade level to reduce class size. Students will have access to the most current technology which will include Apple iPod Touches, Smart boards, Flip Video cameras, and additional software to support the curriculum. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn in an engaging environment as we prepare them for post-secondary education and beyond.
