AR Reading
Reading is the focus since this proves to be more difficult for most students.
I have included the NC Thinking Skills sheet so that you can ask your child
questions after he/she reads. You should do this at least 3 times
a week so that they are familiar with the types of questions that they
may see on the EOG test.
We took
the STAR test this week. It tells the independent reading level for
your child. It is based on grade levels. If your child’’s level
is 2.1-3.1 then they are reading at a beginning 2nd grade to beginning
3rd grade level. If it is 3.5-4.5, your child is reading at a mid
3rd grade level to mid 4th grade level.
Green Road Library has the Wilburn AR List . You can take your child
there so that they can get a book to read over track out. It is important
that you make sure that your child is reading an AR book over track out.
They can come to school and take the test in the library. If not,
write the title down and they can take it when we track back in.
It is a requirement in my class to take at least one AR test a week (not
over track out). It will be part of the Reading grade.
Pre EOG
As you all know , we took the Reading Pre EOG the second week of school.
. This assessed K-2 reading concepts and some 3rd grade concepts
(so that students can receive a 4). If your child did not score a
3 or 4 on the Pre EOG then they will attend remediation when we track back
in. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
